Count the rhythm and repeated syllables
Listen for how many beats repeat, where the voice pauses, and whether the phrase rises or falls. A clipped two-beat laugh belongs to a different group of candidates than a long rolling pattern. Say the rhythm aloud or tap it once before searching the character list.
Separate vocal texture from the catchphrase
Notice whether the voice is deep, nasal, breathy, metallic, youthful, or exaggerated. Then consider speed and pitch. The syllables may be memorable, but texture helps distinguish characters whose laughs use a similar cadence or whose names first come to mind for the wrong reason.
Use wrong guesses to organize your memory
An incorrect card does not reveal another attribute, so make each guess test a clear theory: pirate or Marine, major or minor character, human or unusual species, early or recent story arc. Keep the audio playing while scanning names, aliases, and epithets instead of submitting random favorites.
